LED downlights are by far the most commonly used in the LED range. This is because of their great energy saving characteristics and long lifespan of +/- 40000 hours as opposed to its halogen counterpart which has a lifespan of +/- 3000 hours. However, be very cautious as to which downlights you buy, as most LED downlights on the market today have a very narrow beam angle of 30 - 45 degrees. Limelight LED downlights have a beam angle of 120 degrees and use the highest lumen Epistar LED's. Not to say that narrow beam angles are always a bad choice, but if you are looking to light up the average room or passage, you will find that they provide insufficient light. Narrow beam angle downlights should ideally be used in cabinets, on walls as feature lights, and for high ceilings (as the beam is more focussed and opens up as it reaches the floor). Limelight SMD LED downlights are preferred by at least 95% of people because of the quality of the light, and the product on the whole. Download our catalogue
